Gordie Chiesa, an analyst for the Utah Jazz talks about what is most important for the Jazz moving on from the big trade last week on the Bill Riley Show.

Gordie Chiesa may be the most positive person I have ever heard talk about basketball. He seems to be one of the most biased people I have ever heard. I love that he loves the underdogs. I can relate to that but, come on man.
He is ridiculously optimistic in this interview. He thinks that the Clippers are a lock when they have 4 guys shooting 7% better than their career averages. I just don’t think that is going to continue. That is a drastic change from 4 months ago when they shot at the same percentage they had for years prior to this season. I think it’s a little early to declare the Clippers a contender for the title.
What is hilarious though, he then goes on to say how we are only 1/4 of the way through the season and it’s too early for the Jazz to panic. It just seems strange to me to hear him say the Jazz are a lock to come back and make the playoffs, they just got off to a slow start and the Clippers are contenders already.
Gordie normally does a pretty good job but, it is just funny to me that he seems to be as hopeful as the organization all of his reporting on the team. I don’t feel like that is what it’s about but that is his choice.
On the other hand, I actually agree with his list of the best Spurs of all time. It is unfortunate that Kawai Leonard left on bad terms though because he really could have gone down as one of the greats of all time rivaling Tim Duncan. I hope the best for Gordie. He does a good job of getting on the good side of players and pumping them up.
It works well for him to get interviews. I just recommend that he and the other Jazz fans out there be just as respectful once a player is gone. Gordon Hayward was called out by Chiesa last year just before the season and I don’t think that is the best way to handle things for recruiting purposes. Guys want to go to places where they will be remembered for all the good they did while playing there.
Anyways, go check out the rest of the Bill Riley Show on ESPN 700. He is one of the best in the state when it comes to radio.
